Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra is a new large Sony smartphone. It got announced by Sony here in January 2018.
Main specs: 6.0 inch Display, IPS LCD type, 1080×1920 pixels screen, Android 8.0 Oreo, Snapdragon 630 Chipset, Adreno 510 GPU, 23MP Primary camera, Dual secondary camera with 16MP + 8MP sensors, Bluetooth 5.0, Fingerprint reader, microSD card up to 256GB, 32/64GB Internal storage, 4GB of RAM and 3580mAh Battery!
First thing you can detect is that it comes with a bit larger battery and display compared to Sony Xperia XA2. The display difference is actually very big. 5.2″ on standard and here 6″ on larger. Very nice that they created a larger distance. So it’s not just a tiny difference. I don’t like when companies make phones that are too similar.
The colours it comes in are Silver, Black, Blue and Gold. With music you even get 3.5mm audio jack.
If we dive deeper into camera specs then first on rear shooter you get: F/2.0 aperture, 24mm, 1/2.3″. phase detection, autofocus and LED flash. The front camera has: F/2.0 aperture, 23mm, 1/2.6″, OIS and AF!
GPS is on-board with A-GPS and GLONASS support! Which gives you access to more satellites. NFC you get inside to be able to do mobile payments. Which is becoming more common these days.
The browser it’s using is all based on HTML5. Which is a great new framework to use to build websites. Many new services online are starting to use HTML5 video players which plays very smoothly inside your browser.
I wish there was an option to remove the battery. But that is a feature that Sony stays away from. Not quite sure why. I believe they can sell many more devices if they had a removable battery option. Since battery is a big issue for most phones when they go faulty.
This phone has very heavy weight with 221 grams and thickness is 9.5mm. So not the easiest phone to carry around.
