Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Available on Amazon!

You can now buy the latest Sony phone from Amazon! This is their latest Xperia slim phone called the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact! It’s available for pre-order here. I talked about this phone in the past here. But let’s quickly go over it again what you get.

Specs: 19MP main camera, 8MP front facing camera, 4.6″ HD TRILUMINOUS display, SmartAmp + S-Force surround sound, Android 8.0 Oreo, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB Internal Storage!

I have been using the Sony Xperia X Compact a lot and I think that these devices deliver high quality. It’s also nice how it’s an unlocked phone you can use it with any carrier that you want. It also comes with a US warranty.

The X compact came with Snapdragon 820 and only 5MP front facing camera. That you now get Snapdragon 835 upgrade and 8MP front facing camera is very nice. Also you now have a Dual Nano SIM option.

Here are some other cool phones that I highly recommend that I have been writing about in the past:

DOOGEE S60 Rugged Smartphone

S60 Fast Review: Massive battery, Rugged protection, IP68 certification, Great DOOGEE fast UI what is there to not like? And they come at a great price!

Xiaomi Mi Note 3

Note 3 Fast Review: Amazing RAM, Fashionable design, 4-sided Glass body, Slim, Facial recognition technology just as iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8/Galaxy S8!

DOOGEE Mix Lite

Get the amazing bezel-less design but for a more affordable price with this compact version of DOOGEE’s Mix phone! The latest trend is little bezels 2017. iPhone X is doing it!

We also have rumours that in the next generation Xperia phones possible 2018 that they also will adopt a more bezel-less design. They still do feature a lot of bezels both in Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia XZ1.

My Phones Part 2: Sony Xperia Z2

In last episode of my phones we took a look at my BlackBerry Priv. In this episode we will take a look at a Sony phone. Sony Xperia Z2.

This phone comes packed with a 5.2″ IPS LCD display! 1080p resolution with 424ppi pixel density. There is no information if it features Gorilla Glass but it does feature X-Reality Engine and Triluminos Display. The phone feels nice in the hand and has a nicer grip than Sony Xperia Z1.

It does have a glass back but it doesn’t slide around that much on a surface. Because the frame of the phone hits the back before the glass. So it lies steady. Which I highly enjoy. I also enjoy that the camera doesn’t stand out on this unit. Like it does on new iPhone 7 Plus.

This phone is IP58 certified so that means it got some decent protection against water and dust. I have done many various liquid test’s with this phone and it has survived them all! This phone comes with Snapdragon 801 Qualcomm Chipset. And a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor. The GPU is Adreno 330.

It also has a microSD card option support up to 256GB! 16GB internal storage with 3GB of RAM. The main camera is 20.7MP with f/2.0. Secondary front facing camera has 2.2MP and can record 1080p video at 30fps.

The battery capacity is 3200mAh same as the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has. Current latest Android version 2017 for this device is Android 5.0.2. Which still looks very good! And the device runs fine 2017. The Android UI looks very close to stock in this version. But the speed of the phone is impressive.

I wanna say big thanks for Sony for creating such a good Xperia phone. The display has a vibrant feel to it that the Xperia Z1 didn’t have. It’s also faster than the original Sony Xperia because of a better processor. It also has custom theme options!

In the personalization area you can tweak: Motion(Control phone using motions), Themes, Wallpaper, Clocks, Status Bar Icons you want to display. In display area you can select: Glove Mode, Image Enhancement using X-Reality for mobile. Or you can turn it off or use Super-vivid Mode. You can tweak the White Balance and have Adaptive Brightness. There is also options for Smart backlight control, Daydream and Tap to Wake up!

Xperia Connectivity allows you to use: Screen Mirroring, Cast Screen, Media Server Settings, Windows Tethering, DUALSHOCK series set up PlayStation Controller, MirrorLink, USB Connectivity. It feels like on connection side Sony really tried to get it all in there!

The power management screen also offers you a lot. First it shows estimated battery time. But then you have amazing power saving tools. STAMINA mode, Ultra STAMINA mode, Low battery mode, Queue background data at set intervals. You can also see App power consumption and battery usage more in general.

This phone has on screen keys in display. Back, Home and Multitasking button. The phone does have a bit large borders up and down which is a bit disappointing. They easily could have packed a larger display in there if they wanted. Sadly they didn’t!

The phone also got flaps for charging, microSD card and SIM card. Which can become annoying after a while to open and close. It also has a dock option available on left side. Which can make the phone feel ugly if you hate docks. Or will never use it. It also has headphone jack at top of the phone. Which is bad many times if you listen to music in your pocket.

But overall Sony Xperia Z2 is still a very cool device. Even a few years later! Hopefully you enjoyed this quick going back in time session with me Adrian. I have another 100+ phones that I’m thinking about writing about also! So stay tuned for that.

iPhone 8 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs. LG V30 vs. Sony Xperia XZ1 Poll!

Audio Version:

So today I want to make a poll to see which phone you are looking forward to the most late 2017.

So we have four different new high end phones that will soon be released. Lets start by talking about the Apple iPhone 8. It’s expected to come with a 5.8″ OLED Display, Speedier A11 processor, Glass body, Edge-to-edge Display, Facial Recognition that probably will replace Touch ID.

So no fingerprint sensor on iPhone 8 seems like. Or home button. Because of the Edge-to-edge display. And wireless charging functionality. Something Android has been having for years.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be like a Galaxy S8+ but with a dual-led camera and an S-Pen. And a smaller battery! It will have either Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835. Both the iPhone 8 and Note 8 is suspecting to feature glass back. Which is bad for protection it can break easier than other materials. So it will probably be a good idea to wear a case with these phones. iPhone 8 will be running on Apple’s latest iOS 11 which currently is in beta. New Note 8 will run with Samsung Experience 8.1 and Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The LG V30 is a new LG phone expected to be unveiled on August 30th a day before IFA 2017 Europe’s largest tech show opens up in Berlin on September 1.

This phone is expected to have 6″ QHD+ OLED Display, rounded corners, Snapdragon 835 (Same processor as Galaxy S8 and OnePlus 5 has), 3200mAh battery, some new “floating bar” (Quick access to shortcuts and notifications), dual-rear cameras for high-performance image capture. It will also feature HDR 10 and Google Daydream support. IP68 certification.

LG G6 was a phone I really enjoyed from LG and I bet this V30 phone will be even more awesome. Looks like they put a great deal of effort into an improved camera. Hopefully the phone won’t come with a glass back I can’t stand that material on a phone. But it probably will have a glass back.

Another rumored device to come soon is the Sony Xperia XZ1. We have some leaked photos already where you can see a device running Android 8. Sony is expected to unveil three new devices on IFA 2017. Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact and X1. And based on the pictures we have seen then it looks like XZ1 may be Sony’s first device to have a fingerprint sensor on the back side. Just as other phone companies is doing. Sony usually only did this on the side button.

Sony still seems like they wanna go with their thick bezels trend with no Edge-to-edge style screen. Most other phone companies are starting to slim down their edges to only have a big display on the front. Not Sony. On the other hand it was a long time ago Sony used a home button on the front side. Something we now see other phone companies is starting to do, remove the home button. Only on-screen keys.

If I’m going to have to pick my favorite between all these four I will easily go for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. That is the one phone that stands out and has something the other phones don’t. A stylus to quickly be able to be creative and take notes. And draw things in a creative way. Apple is falling behind I think since 2013 in creativity. They don’t seem to have the same spark as they had with Steve Jobs.

For example these days other companies copy Apple’s design before they even release their product. This year both Essential PH-1 and Sharp Aquos S2 has done the iPhone 8 design and released their phone’s before Apple even announced their iPhone 8!

So there is little things that are special with Apple these days. Now you can get a Android phone with good specs and latest iPhone look for probably around 200 euro. It doesn’t make that much sense these days to pay 800 euro for a flagship device. But people will still do it. The new iPhone 8 also has this horrible traffic light design on it’s camera which I really don’t like

EverythingApplePro discussed about the Android copycats that stole the iPhone 7 design. Here is a number of phone’s copying the iPhone 7 Plus design. Oppo R11, Honor 8 Pro, OnePlus 5, Zenfone 3 Zoom, Honor V9, OUKITEL U20+, CUBOT Rainbow 2, UMIDIGI Z Pro, Ulefone Gemini Pro.

Now this just show’s that Apple need to find something new original thing to do because now people truly are catching up to them. Also many of these Android phones I mentioned here is fully high quality phones. That can do just as much as an iPhone but with a lower price tag.

Another phone that I didn’t mention in this poll but would be worthy to mention is the new Nokia 8 which is expected to be announced soon. So the Nokia brand has made a comeback with HMD. I bought their new Nokia 3 which is their more low end device and I was impressed with it’s quality. For being so cheap it still performs well. Can play high-end games even. One thing that’s a bit boring is how these new Nokia branded phones is coming with a almost full stock Android look. Which I find a bit uncreative for a comeback. They should work on creating their own user experience interface.

The new high-end Nokia 8 is expected to have Snapdragon 835, 4GB of ram, QHD Display, and maybe a 5.25″ screen size. 64GB built-in storage and 51GB available to the user. There is also a 12MP Zeiss optics camera which can shoot 4K video. As I have understood the front facing camera is also 12MP! Nokia 8 will probably be a bit cheaper than the other brands. A more OnePlus 5 pricing maybe around 500-600 euro. The other high end phones probably more at 700-900 euro. Nokia 8 is expected to be announced in London on August 16. We already have a mid-range Nokia phone called Nokia 6.

I expected something more exciting to be revealed with a new iPhone especially now when it’s completely 10year since the first but looks like they will disappoint many with their traffic light iPhone.

Thanks for reading!

Best Regards,

Adrian
