Nokia 1 is a new low cost Android smartphone. It’s great for people that want a phone with a smaller display. Most Android phones these days comes with at least a 5 inch display. But many want something smaller. Just as in Galaxy S2 days. This phone can be a good option for old timers.
Main specs: 4.5 inch IPS LCD type Display, 480×854 pixel resolution screen, Android 8.0 Oreo, Mediatek MT6737M Chipset, Quad-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz Cortex-A53 type, Mali-T720 GPU, microSD card up to 128GB, 8GB Internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 5MP Primary camera and 2MP secondary camera!
Clearly the camera area is not this phone’s strength side! The battery it comes with has 2150mAh! Another thing that is good to know is that this is a non 4G phone. So no fast internet surf speeds. This is like a more premium Nokia 3310 2017 edition.
The two colours you could get it in are Warm Red and Dark Blue. Wish they had a full Black edition as well. It’s nice how the battery is removable. It also features a 3.5mm audio jack. Bluetooth edition is 4.2. It’s using the old microUSB 2.0 connector instead of Type C.
Another good thing is that this is a plastic phone just as the small Galaxy S2 was. Many new Android phones only comes in metal or glass build. This phone also has support for Dual SIM so perfect for people traveling the world. It’s pretty thick with 9.5mm thickness.
It doesn’t come with a home button but it features 3 on screen keys at the bottom of the display to navigate around in Android. The video recording you can do with this phone is 480p video quality. The Mali GPU will be able to play some nice graphics games.
Nokia 7 is a new smartphone released by HMD Global that came out October 2017. What’s cool about this device is how it comes with a glass back. This reminds me about LG G6!
Main specs: 5.2″ Display, 1080×1920 Pixels, 16MP Camera with 2160p Video recording, 6GB of RAM, Snapdragon 630 Chipset, 3000mAh Battery, 7.9mm Thickness, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, 64GB Internal Storage and microSD card slot!
The fingerprint is located at the rear side below the camera. The camera is also a protruding variant. On the front side you have a lip at the botttom. And it’s not a full all-screen display. This phone comes with nice rounded sides which reminds me about iPhone 8.
This is not a full water resistant phone like Galaxy S8 or Note 8. But it does have IP54 splash proof certification. The front glass has gorilla glass 3 protection. This is good protection against scratches in pocket or drops.
The processor inside is an octa-core variant. The cores are clocked at 2.2GHz and it’s Cortex-A53. The GPU you get is the Adreno 508 variant. The secondary front facing camera comes with 5MP.
Another super awesome thing is how it packs latest Bluetooth 5 and 3.5mm jack for audio. So wireless sound will be amazing because of the new codecs. It’s using the new Type-C 1.0 reversible connector for charging.
The battery more in detail will last for: 340 hours on standby, 15 hours of talk time and 85 hours of music play. The two colours you can get this device in is glossy black and matte white. It’s a phone that cost 360 euro which is around the same price as Galaxy A3 2017. So Samsung is getting some serious competition here!
Design wise I feel that this might be the most attractive new Nokia smartphone that you can get at this moment!
We may see a brand new Nokia 6 come out in early 2018. The Nokia brand is back strong under HMD that under 2017 has started to release a ton of new phones running Android and using the Nokia brand. Still coming with great hardware quality that Nokia was famous for.
The specs on this Nokia 6 successor is suppose to be first a Snapdragon 660 chipset. This chipset will be way faster than Snapdragon 430 that was in first Nokia 6. This new one has 4x Kryo 260 cores and they are clocked at 2.2GHz, you also get 4x Kryo 260 clocked at 1.8GHz. So octa-core and coming with almost twice the speed in RAM clocked at 1866MHz. It’s 14nm manufacturing process.
Other specs we are expecting in this update is 4GB of RAM and 32GB Internal Storage. We are also expecting to see a Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 2018 phones being released and announced early 2018.
I’m curious to see if they can keep the price low on this new unit around 200 euros. Because then they can compete against Samsung’s new Galaxy A3 and A5 2018 editions which cost at least 300 euro. Of course you also have the brand new Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus which cost around 180 euro for the high-end model.
The Nokia brand is strong with dedicated followers so if they can price it right I believe it can become a big hit. But the low-end Android market are really releasing some high-quality solid phones for around 150 euro. So I’m really hoping this new Nokia device bring some new hardware upgrades.
Because Nokia brand hasn’t been back for so long it’s good if they start to underprice their new smartphones a bit. So they can start to gain trust. Then after maybe 3 years then can do like Samsung and Apple and start to offer 1000 euro smartphones!
The Nokia brand is back again with it’s strong force thanks to Finnish HMD Global company and their Chinese partners. January 2018 we may have the new Nokia 9 to be unveiled. Since the Nokia brand got back they have been busy launching tons of devices again! It’s very nice to have a new competitor out on the phone market. HTC got a little boring after a while. LG is doing a great job Sony as well but they can’t rival with Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei Android phone companies.
HMD will hold an event in China on January 19 where they will probably unveil Nokia 9 and next-gen Nokia 8 phone with customized Android software for the Chinese market.
There is some rumors about the specs on Nokia 9 that it may feature a 5.5 Inch display with QHD technology, 18:9 aspect ratio a big hit in 2017, Snapdragon 835 high-end chipset, Dual rear camera setup, IP67 certification and no 3.5mm headphone jack.
I really find it to be a joke how companies are removing the headphone jack. But maybe it’s the right way to go if Bluetooth over 5.0 version is working perfectly. My experience with wireless audio is that it’s not very reliable. Another thing is that using an adapter for audio is silly. It should be a default thing that works without adapter! It just complicates things that worked. Companies probably do this to earn more profit. Same reason they put glass on phones so they break faster.
At least Nokia brand is back. We got tired of when Nokia brand was used under the Microsoft watch. With their boring Lumia devices and Windows Phone operating system. I hope that Nokia start to develop their own custom Android skin so they don’t just use stock. They should make something special that stands out! Just as Samsung is doing with their own emojis and custom experience. It makes people love their phone experience more. ASUS is also amazing at this.
Ever wanted a phone that looks like a 2017 Nokia 3310? You can now buy that. It’s called the OEINA XP3310 phone! Do remember that I am talking here about the brand new Nokia design for 2017 3310. The original Nokia 3310 got released year 2000.
Specs and functions on this phone are very basic because it is a feature phone so don’t expect too much. There will not be a cool iOS 11 App Store or Android Google Play store on this device! No hardcore gaming. It comes with quad band. It’s an unlocked phone.
Specs on OEINA XP3310: The display is 2.4 inch in size, Bluetooth version 2.0, Dual cameras, 0.08MP Front camera, 0.08MP Rear camera, Sound recorder, FM, MP3, Alarm, Standard SIM card size, 32MB RAM, 32MB Internal storage, TF card support up to 16GB and 1000mAh battery inside.
The first thing you would want to do with this device is to buy a TF card and expand memory. Especially if you want to be able to use the MP3 function. The 32MB internal won’t last very long.
And I also suspect that you can’t play any games on this phone. On new 3310 there is a limited amount of games available like Snake for example. This phone comes with multi-language support. And the total weight is 100 grams. Which I find kinda high for this tiny phone. But I suspect it’s because the large battery packed inside.
Very cool colours here on OEINA XP3310. Also in terms of standard durability I still would buy an original Nokia 3310 over this. The original has been proven to be super durable for over 17 years! With a new phone like this you never know. There is also another clone from vkworld that is out I might write about that one as well. Do you like this phone or do you think it’s a bad copycat? I wished they made the new 3310 slimmer than the original.
