Xiaomi Mi A2 is a new smartphone that looks like Xiaomi’s iPhone X copycat phone. Many Android phone companies are copying Apple’s latest devices. This one comes with the rear traffic light design.
Main specs: 5.99” Display with LTPS IPS LCD screen, 1080×2160 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, MIUI 9.5 UX Skin on top of Android, Hybrid Dual SIM, Front Glass, Aluminium Body, 7.3mm Thickness, Android 8.1 Oreo, Snapdragon 660 Chipset, Adreno 512 GPU, Octa-core processor with 4×2.2GHz Kryo 260 and 4×1.8GHz Kryo 260, microSD card extend up to 256GB, 128GB Internal storage, Dual Main camera 12MP + 20MP, Secondary 20MP Camera and Bluetooth 5.0!
The first thing that strikes me with this device is the amazing beauty in terms of design. They really did a good job on that front. It’s a bit boring how it doesn’t come with a 3.5mm earphone jack. This might be an issue for some. The battery comes with 3010mAh which is cool for a low cost Android device. Not as cheap as Xiaomi Redmi 5 but not as high as Galaxy A5 2017.
The screen size is of course super big. Maybe too big for majority. I do not like the large bezels you can see on the front of the smartphone. It reminds me about a Sony Xperia device. The weight is pretty low only 168 grams. I really enjoy the Red colour edition. You also get the regular Apple colours like Pink or Gold. Then we have a Blue edition. The USB is 2.0 and using new Type-C.
Xiaomi may be the new Samsung when it comes to low cost Android devices. Since Samsung is starting to raise their price on their phone lineup. I would love for Apple to release some low cost iPhone’s. Perhaps a new iPhone for just 150 euro. Perhaps they will have to do this in the future to be able to compete with cheap Android smartphones. Especially when cost of production keeps going down.
A few months ago I talked about a cool iPhone X design copycat phone called Leagoo S9. You can now buy that device. So let’s go over it quick to see what you get inside this smartphone! First of course it comes with the notch and the rear traffic light design camera.
Main specs: 5.85 inch Display, HD+ with 1212×720 pixel screen, IPS type, Android 8.1 Oreo, MT6750 Chipset, Octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and ARM Cortex-A53 28nm setup, Mali-T860 MP2 GPU clocked at 520MHz, 4GB of RAM, 32GB Internal storage, TF card support up to 128GB, 4G VoLTE support, Dual SIM Dual Standby, 2.5D curved glass display and Type-C 2.0 connector!
First thing you detect on Leagoo S9 is the massive display! This will be great for people that enjoy playing games or watch Netflix on their phone. The front camera comes with an 8.0MP sensor. The rear camera is dual and has 13.0MP + 0.3MP lens.
Other things that exist are OTG support and OTA updates. You can even unlock the phone with your face just as you would on iPhone X or Samsung Galaxy S9! On the rear side you can find a fingerprint sensor. It’s a very thick phone with 11.8mm thickness.
The battery which is built in has 3300mAh! I wish it was a removable variant but not even the low cost Android phones gives you that these days. Quick charging is on board with 5V/2A setup. You can also find 3.5mm earphone jack!
Leagoo S9 comes in three colour editions: Black, Gold and Blue. It looks very glossy all of them. I think because of the back glass design. Makes it looks like an ASUS ZenFone smartphone! The front has an all screen display with super small bezels. It looks like a premium iPhone at the front side.
It’s super nice how it runs Oreo version of Android. So you get great performance and the latest security updates and bug fixes. You get even high quality music from the speaker.
Vivo X21 is a new phone that looks very similar to the iPhone X! It has a huge display that will be a bit too much for majority of people.
Main specs: 6.28” Display, 1080×2280 pixel screen, Android 8.1 Oreo, Snapdragon 660 Chipset, Octa-core processor with 4x 2.2GHz Kryo 260 and 4x 1.8GHz Kryo 260, Adreno 512 GPU, microSD card support up to 256GB, 64/128GB Memory variant, 6GB of RAM, Dual main camera with 12MP + 5MP Lens, 12MP Secondary camera, 3.5mm earphone jack and Bluetooth 5.0 support!
In terms of OS you get a skin on top of Android that is called Funtouch OS 4.0. The display type is Super AMOLED same as Samsung usually like to use. The build is very premium with Front glass and Aluminium Body. It’s a super slim device with only 7.4mm thickness.
The non-removable battery comes with 3200mAh. One thing that is a bit sad is to see no USB Type C but only microUSB connector. But this is a mid range device in price so it’s not too bad. The colours it comes in are Black, Aurora White and Ruby Red. Another nice thing is how it has hybrid Dual SIM support. The weight is also very slim only 156 grams.
The fingerprint scanner is rear mounted as many others. The video recording function only supports 1080p not higher resolution recording so that is a bit boring.
On the top side you could see a notch installed. This thing started with the Apple iPhone X. Now other companies are starting to copy that especially Android phones. I like how the display is an all-screen display with no bezels. On the back side you can see the traffic light design that also the iPhone X comes with. But it doesn’t seem to protrude as much.
Oukitel U11 Plus is a more premium device than the other device that I talked about earlier today from the same company. This one is more in Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 zone!
Main specs: 5.7 inch Display, FHD resolution with 1080×1920 pixels screen, 2.5D curved front and with LTPS, 5 Points touch, Android 7.0 Nougat, MTK6750T Chipset, Octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, Mali T860 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB Internal storage, TF card support up to 128GB, Aluminium alloy shell material build, Dual SIM Card Dual Standby and 4G data speeds!
In terms of cameras the main one is 13.0MP lens with true dual flash LED and the secondary camera also comes with 13.0MP lens but perhaps it has a lower aperture. Bluetooth edition is the older 4.0. Wish it came with Bluetooth 5.0 since it’s fairly expensive device.
Another downside with Oukitel U11 Plus is how it’s still using Micro USB 5Pin connector instead of new USB Type C! In terms of thickness it is 8.3mm. The battery packed inside has 3700mAh and probably a non removable variant. One good thing is you still get a 3.5mm earphone port! Something that many new high end Android phones lack!
The two colour editions that exist are Jet Black and Blue. Wish we could have a red Edition too. More in terms of build this phone has been built using CNC craftsmanship and the aluminium feel will make it having a more premium touch.
Oukitel U11 Plus reminds me a bit about Huawei Honor 8 and Honor 9 in the sleek back design. LTE 4G+ will truly give you amazing data speeds. The Android experience will probably close to very stock look. Not any premium DOOGEE skin on board.
One downside may be that at the front it seem to have a bit dead space below the display. Reminds me about Sony and their Xperia phones.
Oukitel U22 is a new cheap smartphone that is great for a person that is just starting out in the Android space. It cost around the same amount as a Nokia 3310 successor edition!
Main specs: 5.5″ HD IPS Display, 1280×720 pixels screen, 2 Points multi touch, Android 7.0 Nougat, MT6580A Chipset, Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, Mali-400 MP2 GPU clocked at 200MHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB Internal storage and TF card support up to 32GB!
The front facing camera on Oukitel U22 has 5MP + 2MP lens! And the rear camera also comes with dual but it has 8.0MP + 2.0MP! Another good thing is the fingerprint ID sensor and a detachable battery with 2700mAh! Usually in the Android space you do not even get removable batteries 2018.
This phone is pretty thick with 9.6mm thickness dimensions. Another downside is that it doesn’t come with any 4G data speeds. But it support Dual SIM Dual Standby. The two colours variants that exist are Black and White.
It’s nice that it has Android 7.0 Nougat it’s not the latest Android 8.1 Oreo but still fairly new Android release. On the rear side there is a good distance between the fingerprint sensor and rear camera so you won’t confuse the two. The camera design is same as on iPhone 7 Plus.
Another thing with Oukitel U22 is that it comes with 3 capacitive touch buttons on the front below the display. Something that many other companies are removing and instead starting to use on-screen keys.
The screen have a 2.5D curve. It even comes with a metal frame which is something we usually doesn’t see on mega cheap devices like this one! Very elegant phone for the low price that you pay.
Especially they managed to make so the fingerprint sensor looked very modern.
