The Power of Imagination

Audio Version:

So today I want to talk about imagination. In a world where with the power of the internet can basically access all of the worlds knowledge with just a couple of buttons it is important to not get stuck inside of an auto-pilot trap. It is true that many things such a surviving is getting easier especially in the developed world. All heavy lifting the machines and computers can now do. But we still have to do one thing and that is to use our imagination.

The first thing we have to understand about the universe is that it seems to constantly expand. It seems to have no end. So in that case it means complexity and knowledge and whatever you want in life is already available in an infinite form. You just gotta use your imagination to tap into that source. For example I have noticed this when I have been producing YouTube videos. The more videos I do the more new better video ideas I get. And the less videos I do. The less ideas I get. So the more I take action the more my mind starts to expand. You discover that there is no limit.

Important In Creativity to Warm Up!

I have for example noticed that when I do 10 videos quick without much thinking but just producing. Then the real good ideas comes after I have done that. So the first part sorta works as a warm up. It’s kind of like in any sports that people exercise. They have to stretch and prepare for a game or a practice. Many times we gloss over the WARM UP part. We need to understand how critical this part is. If we don’t take it seriously then we will get less of everything.

Some people call this the law of abundance. That whatever thing you put out into the universe will come back to you. What I have noticed is the more you give the more you actually see your full potential and the insanity of how infinite this whole maze of life seems to be.

A key thing here that I have noticed to become more imaginative is that you have to expose yourself to a bunch of new information daily. To get new data and input that you later can sort through. If you don’t get exposed to new ideas or thoughts your mind will grow more weak and lazy. Because we humans are open systems.

There is an amazing book I am currently reading on this topic of imagination from Napoleon Hill. It’s called The Law of Success. Here is a great quote about this idea of thoughts. That they can be extremely powerful and affect other’s far away from you:

Ignorance Is Bad

We have a lot of ignorance that we have to fight against in our life’s. The more you learn and read the more you become aware that you don’t know anything. It make’s you more humble. But also grateful because you see that there is more to life than just the regular auto-pilot mode most people are on. The reason why we are in this auto-pilot mode is because of a lack of imagination.

Or lack of understanding that we have the most powerful tool in the universe always with us. Our brain and it’s intellect. Maybe we are afraid of it also to discover it’s fullest potential. But it can really open up interesting doors and thought patterns you never thought was possible. Being exposed to new information can of course come from other sources than books.

Chaos Can Be Good!

I have noticed that chaos in my environment for example will stimulate my brain to see new things and connect new ideas together. It’s like a plate of Taco’s full of colors and diversity.

I used imagination to discover that if you use a speech to text app on your phone then you can get 1,000 word’s down on paper in just 7 minutes. That is around 35 pages in 1 hour and a full book in 8 hours. Now of course it would require a lot of editing but you see my point. My imagination got me to that realisation.

We have these ideas that maybe writing a book should take months or years. When it could be done in 1 week. With deeper focus and attention and living in the present moment. This will of course open up your imagination even more. If you can finish writing a book in 1 week then what would you be able to accomplish in one full year?

Another great quote fromThe Law of Success about how negative energy also can affect us very easily so we need to control what we surround ourself with. Which also goes to show that we aren’t closed systems as humans:

Be a creator more then a consumer!

Why aren’t more people producing videos, making songs, making podcast’s, writing blog posts. When you now with the internet have access to billions of people! Imagine all these humans that you have a super easy way to access. Never in past history has such a massive opportunity for creativity and imagination existed as of now.

Or for example think about all these daily things you are struggling with. Problems in your life. If it’s a problem in your life maybe it’s something that other people also struggle with? And if it’s a mainstream problem you can work on a solution to that problem and sell it to others. You see everyone has some problem in their life and something they want to be fixed. You can be that problem solver.

For example you can sell digital products with WordPress and deliver them digitally for free. Bet you haven’t even thought about that!

Complexity!

Usually we don’t like problems and run away from them but just imagine the power you have if you can learn to become a problem solver that can solve any problem that come’s your path.

I heard this great thing which is so true and that is that you get paid in proportion to the complexity of problem you are solving. So if you are just solving an easy problem then you will be paid low. But if you find a way to solve a more complicated problem then you will be better paid. For example let’s say you design a website for someone or you learn how to program an app. Now you have used your imagination more and will be able to be paid more.

Of course this intense level of imagination will fire up your brain’s dopamine levels that will make you feel good and win more in life. Your brain will enjoy that you are doing something new. Instead of just the same old stuff. A great book from Ian Robertson called The Winner Effect discusses a lot the connection between dopamine and winning. Here is a great small quote reminding you that the human connection can many times make you feel way better than monetary rewards that humans can get stuck in:

Imagination will be very hard if you don’t get exposed to new data and information. We humans are like sponges. Everyone around us has an effect on our life. So we need to be sure we choose good sources. For example if you want to be a programmer you have to find those sources in life and surround yourself with them. Eventually they will start to rub off on you. And you will become that.

Have a great day!

Adrian
