The Samsung Galaxy S3 mini Smartphone!

I like to go back sometimes in time to have a look at interesting devices. Samsung Galaxy S3 mini was a really cool device when it came out. Because we didn’t get an S2 Mini.

This was suppose to be a mini variant of S3 but it had lower specs and was way more fat! It kinda looked a bit cute and funny. Like a baby pig phone. But it had it’s charm. Many was curious on the device.

Main specs on Galaxy S3 mini: 4.0 inch Display, 480×800 pixels screen, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, NovaThor U8420 Chipset, 1.0GHz Dual-core processor with Cortex-A9, Mali-400 GPU, 5MP primary camera and VGA secondary camera.

This was back in the days when front selfie cameras had mega low megapixel! The memory inside this phone was 8GB/16GB variant and 1GB of RAM + microSD card up to 32GB! 1GB of RAM makes so you can’t really play any games with heavy performance requirements.

The battery in this phone was tiny 1500mAh! Something that was considered very common back in the days. These days we are shocked if we see a phone with a battery below 2000mAh! But the cool thing was how you could remove the battery in this phone.

This phone was using a larger SIM card the Mini-SIM type. In terms of video recording you could pull it off at 720p with 30 frames per second. It came with a 3.5mm audio jack for audio listen. Something that was standard in 2012 but is getting more common 2018 that companies remove that option!

The USB connector on Galaxy S3 mini for charging was the good old microUSB 2.0. Bluetooth it had pre-installed was 4.0. Another interesting thing was the amount of colours it got launched in: White, Blue, Titan Gray, Amber Brown, Garnet Red and Onyx Black! The browser already in 2012 was using HTML5!

A couple of years ago I made an unboxing of the Galaxy S3 mini. It was very fun to do. Let me know if you want me to get more cool phones in the future!

Samsung Galaxy S6 Coca-Cola Durability Test!

In this video I tested to see how the Samsung Galaxy S6 would perform if I poured Coca-cola on top of it! What’s interesting with the Galaxy S6 was that it’s not a water resistant phone.

Samsung did gave us water resistance with Galaxy S5 somewhat. The S5 wasn’t fully water resistant because you could remove the back side and if you wasn’t careful enough then it could get soaked on the inside with fluids.

Then with Samsung Galaxy S7 we got water resistance back again fully. The only main downside with many of Samsung’s phone that has water resistance is that they still get problem with the audio jack that can complain that it needs to be dry hours later. It can be very annoying and they should fix that. For example Apple iPhone’s never have that problem.

I will probably do more Cola test in the future on phones. But it does seem like more phones are getting permanent water resistance so it probably won’t be that fun to try it in the future if it will always survive. Need to come up with something different!

New Samsung Galaxy S9 Alleged Leak Display Single Rear Camera!

Samsung Galaxy S9 leak shows that we may only see one single rear camera. This means that it doesn’t seem like Samsung want to buy into the hype of dual rear cameras. It’s been the biggest trend of 2017. People been wanting dual cameras on both front and back. But I think this fad will go away. Also so does Samsung. On these schematic leaks we can see a fingerprint reader below the camera.

The sad part about next year then is that it will just be a boring tiny upgrade year. No new cool design when it comes to Samsung. Maybe we need to start looking at Nokia again. The Nokia brand seems to be doing a nice comeback. Apple and Samsung started to out-compete Nokia in 2010 and 2011 with Android and iOS phones. But now they are coming back strong.

Another nice thing we can see on these renders is how Samsung still will give you 3.5mm jack for wired audio listen. This is a feature Apple has removed in the latest iPhone X. And will probably remove in more phones like iPhone 9 in 2018. Apple want us to buy more expensive 200 euro wireless headphones or buy an adapter just to listen to Audio.

Some people prefer that Samsung goes back to the flat Galaxy S6 front or S7 front. The S8 has a slight curve on front that might not suit all. Many prefer when Samsung had a real edge variant like S6 Edge and a real stock variant with no Edge as S6. Me personally I prefer the edge on S8. Gives it some style but you don’t think about it too much.

I really hope the Galaxy S9 has a massive battery of at least 4,500mAh. That would be very refreshing. Gives us something new and cool Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S9 May Look Like This!

Samsung Galaxy S9 is a new phone that we are expecting to see in 2018. We now have a concept render of how that phone may look like.

The first thing that you can see on these renders is how it features a fingerprint scanner that is now located below the rear camera. This is a better location than what we saw on Galaxy S8. On S8 the fingerprint reader is located on the side of the camera. Which makes it more complicated to reach and sometimes you hit the camera instead. Also the S8 sensor many times cant detect your finger. I never have this problem with Huawei Mate 9.

You see various colours in these renders as Black, Silver, Gray, Blue and Gold edition. In terms of specs I have talked in the past that S9 will probably feature the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset with new Adreno 630 GPU, latest Bluetooth 5.0 with better wireless audio codecs and Quick Charge 4+.

Other specs we probably will see is a 5.8″ Super AMOLED vibrant screen. I hope we see a 8GB RAM model of the S9. And we may see stock storage inside S9 to be 128GB. Which is a step up from 64GB. But it wouldn’t be too strange, we already see low end Android smartphones now coming out with 64GB of storage.

It looks like S9 will not have a major redesign. That it mostly will just tweak the fingerprint scanner location. So a bit like Apple when they kept same design from iPhone 6 to iPhone 8. Not any major redesigns on most phones these days. It seems like they are working more on trying to improve the software these days. But we are reaching a stage where most phones have become so good that you don’t need to upgrade every year.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 Specs Leaked!

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime has been leaked with it’s complete specs! This is not 2018 edition but is suppose to be 2017 edition. Even though we are soon moving into a brand new year. This phone will be running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The specs will be a 1.4GHz Quad-core processor, Exynos 7570 Chipset, Mali-T720 GPU for gaming, 3GB of RAM, 16GB Internal Storage, 13MP rear camera and 8MP front facing camera! You also get a fingerprint sensor on front side.

Hopefully this phone will be made in same premium metal feel sleek material as J5 2017. Or they might go with plastic like J5 2016 edition used. This phone also comes with a 5 Inch display that is an IPS variant with 720p pixel resolution. The battery it’s being powered by will be a 2500mAh! Which might sound a bit low but remember that the 720p display won’t draw that much battery drain as with high end phones.

And as this is Samsung this phone might be launched under different names depending on the region. Samsung usually likes to do this. They do it to maximize revenue by bringing out a similar device or sometimes even lower specced with a new exclusive name. Since it’s soon 2018 I don’t think anyone will get their hands on with this device before Christmas.

2017 was the most impressive year so far when it comes to Samsung’s phone upgrades with their Galaxy J and Galaxy A series. But Galaxy S series not that much phone wise happened. I really want Samsung to bring back their Galaxy S Mini smartphones. The S3 Mini, S4 Mini and S5 mini definitely had their charm! The best part about them was the plastic build and removable battery option. Many many folks want this back! Too much glass is overrated.
