CUBOT X18 Plus New Smartphone!

CUBOT X18 Plus is a nice upgrade from the standard X18 that I talked about a few months ago. This one comes with improved specs!

Main features: 5.99 inch Display, 2160×1080 pixels screen, MTK6750T Chipset, 1.5GHz processor which is Octa-core, Android 8.0 Oreo, 4GB of RAM, 64GB Internal storage, 8.0MP front camera, 0.3MP + 16.0MP dual rear camera and Dual SIM Card Dual Standby!

Another good thing about CUBOT X18 Plus is how it comes with 4G support! The battery has 4000mAh! Which is very impressive. More than what Apple and Samsung gives you. But you cannot remove it which is a bit sad.

I like how there is a distance between the fingerprint scanner and the camera on the rear side. They learned from the mistake that Samsung did! On the back side you can see the phone is rounded for a nicer grip.

It comes with standard features that can be good when you are exploring the world like GPS and A-GPS. The SIM card size is Nano. SIM cards have truly gotten smaller over the years!

A good thing with CUBOT X18 Plus is how it packs 3.5mm audio jack. Something that is becoming rare that a phone has in 2018. I hope the dual rear camera craze goes away in a few years. I really don’t see why it would create that much better phones.

Mainly probably just a gimmick. Many phones these days jump on the latest trends but in a few years people get bored of it. I think the phone companies should look at what their users want instead. Apple for example should open up iOS and let the open source community explore the OS more so they can create Cydia tweaks. People loved iOS when they could do that! That was back in 2009. Since then Apple has become more boring and closed their OS more.

BLU Studio View XL New Smartphone!

BLU got a new phone which is being called Studio View XL. BLU is a brand that is releasing many phones under it’s name. Let’s go over the specs.

Main specs: 5.7 inch Display, 720×1440 pixels screen, IPS LCD type, Android 7.0 Nougat, Mediatek MT6580 Chipset, Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Cortex-A7 cores, microSD card support up to 64GB, 16GB Internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 13.0MP main camera, 5MP front facing camera and 3000mAh battery!

This is an entry Android smartphone. It even cost less than Xiaomi Redmi 5. It doesn’t come with a home button but just a front screen with 3 buttons built into the display. In terms of weight it’s fairly heavy with 174 grams but it makes sense since the large display. Pretty thick too with 9.3mm thickness.

You don’t get any 60fps 1080p recording or 4K resolution. The Bluetooth version is also just 4.0 not even 4.1 or 4.2. And microUSB 2.0 is being used as USB connector.

But it’s nice that it packs a fingerprint sensor. Something that most people is using 2018. Some advanced smartphone users have even started to use face unlock. I use that feature on my Galaxy S8 and works 90% of the time! Which is very impressive how technology is improving. I can even use it to login to websites.

The colours it comes in are Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Silver! Another great thing about the battery is that it’s a removable variant. Something that not even Samsung likes to put in their phones. Now they are moving more to back covers which you cannot remove. Probably they do it to make more money.

The battery will last for up to 625 hours in 3G standby and up to 16 hours talk time with 3G. Sadly this phone doesn’t seem to feature 4G which is a downside for most people.

I did a quick comparison a couple of months ago where I compared a Nokia 3310 vs. brand new high-end Samsung phone. It was quite fun to do!

Samsung Xcover 550 vs. Nokia 3310 – Which Is Faster?

Back some time ago I made a video comparing a 15 year old Nokia 3310 with a brand new Samsung feature phone. I thought it would be fun to compare these two gadgets because they are both super durable.

But of course the Samsung phone is a little bit more interesting because it comes with a colour display. Something that didn’t exist back in year 2000. The Samsung Xcover 550 also comes with IP67 certification. So it’s dust and water resistant. Another thing that makes the Samsung phone better is that it comes with 3.15MP camera and microSD card support!

On the other hand Nokia 3310 gives you some legendary games like Snake 2, Pairs 2, Space Impact and Bantumi. Also that the Nokia phone comes with back and front cover that you can exchange to other cool themes. Which was a major hit with that phone! Which one do you prefer?

Huawei G9 Plus New Smartphone!

Huawei G9 Plus is a new cool smartphone from the popular chinese phone brand Huawei. This phone cost a little bit more than Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus.

Main specs: 5.5 inch Display, 1920×1080 pixels screen, 401 pixels per inch, EMUI 4.1 + Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 Chipset, Octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, Adreno 506 GPU, 32GB Internal storage, 3GB of RAM, External Micro SD card support up to 128GB and 4G LTE connectivity!

Pretty basic specs of what you would expect from a phone around this price range. In terms of materials G9 Plus is using Plastic and Metal body. Two colour variants exist Gold and Silver.

The battery it comes packed with has 3340mAh! Which is large for a low cost Android device. We are starting to see most new phones coming out with at least 3000mAh battery these days. In audio you get 3.5mm audio jack to use wired cable!

The front camera is an 8.0MP variant which is pretty high resolution for a front camera. It features F.2.0 aperture. The main camera also packs same F2.0 but has 16MP instead. Other specs incude: CMOS, Flash light, PDAF, OIS and video recording at 4K with 30fps!

On the back side of the phone you can find a fingerprint sensor mounted. Was very impressed when I saw that this phone is only 7.3mm in thickness. The weight is 160 grams which is pretty low and the USB connector is using brand new USB Type-C cable.

Huawei G9 Plus doesn’t come with an all-screen display on front side but it packs some bezel top and bottom side. But what is cool is that you get 2.5D arc screen. I like the square design that you can see on the back side. Usually fingerprint sensor is rounded but in this phone Huawei tried something new and unique! Very impressive!

Earlier this year I unboxed the Huawei Mate 9 which became one of my favourite phones of all time! I even like it more than Samsung Galaxy S8 because it comes with aluminium metal back instead of glass back as S8 have. Also S8 has a bad fingerprint sensor that usually doesn’t work at the first try.

AEKU C9 New Phone!

AEKU C9 is a super basic phone that is having low radiation. It’s perfect for people that wants a mega compact mobile!

Main specs: 1.3 inch Display, OLED type screen, 480×320 pixels screen, Not a touch screen, 500mAh battery, 7 days of standby, 4 hours talk time, Replaceable battery, MTK6261D processor, Single core CPU, Unlocked cell, Single SIM card and 8mm thickness!

As you can see AEKU C9 is a very basic phone. It has larger buttons so you could see them easier. Also features an SOS button. One-touch dial SOS can be useful! Another thing that is awesome is how they made the back non slip. Sometimes slippery phones can be super annoying. I have owned many Sony smartphones that have slipped off my table just because they feature an annoying glass back!

This phone comes in two different colours White and Black. The SOS button is red on both of them. The charger is using a standard USB cable. This mobile even support TF card for MP3 music files. The phone book can store 100 contacts.

Messages that you can store are up to 50! Bluetooth is 2.0 and data speed is 2G. Both are a bit low but for the price this is pretty standard of what you can expect. It does come with an Alarm clock perfect for early morning when you need to get up for work or feed the birds.

Vibration is built in and you get access to a full QWERTY keyboard. Also come with support for many of the big languages. It does stand out and has a bit more fun design than a feature phone. This is a phone for someone that just want something that is super easy to use!

I wish AEKU C9 came in a few other colours like red and blue and perhaps green. It would make it easier to find if you lost it.
