Xiaomi Mi A2 is a new smartphone that looks like Xiaomi’s iPhone X copycat phone. Many Android phone companies are copying Apple’s latest devices. This one comes with the rear traffic light design.
Main specs: 5.99” Display with LTPS IPS LCD screen, 1080×2160 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, MIUI 9.5 UX Skin on top of Android, Hybrid Dual SIM, Front Glass, Aluminium Body, 7.3mm Thickness, Android 8.1 Oreo, Snapdragon 660 Chipset, Adreno 512 GPU, Octa-core processor with 4×2.2GHz Kryo 260 and 4×1.8GHz Kryo 260, microSD card extend up to 256GB, 128GB Internal storage, Dual Main camera 12MP + 20MP, Secondary 20MP Camera and Bluetooth 5.0!
The first thing that strikes me with this device is the amazing beauty in terms of design. They really did a good job on that front. It’s a bit boring how it doesn’t come with a 3.5mm earphone jack. This might be an issue for some. The battery comes with 3010mAh which is cool for a low cost Android device. Not as cheap as Xiaomi Redmi 5 but not as high as Galaxy A5 2017.
The screen size is of course super big. Maybe too big for majority. I do not like the large bezels you can see on the front of the smartphone. It reminds me about a Sony Xperia device. The weight is pretty low only 168 grams. I really enjoy the Red colour edition. You also get the regular Apple colours like Pink or Gold. Then we have a Blue edition. The USB is 2.0 and using new Type-C.
Xiaomi may be the new Samsung when it comes to low cost Android devices. Since Samsung is starting to raise their price on their phone lineup. I would love for Apple to release some low cost iPhone’s. Perhaps a new iPhone for just 150 euro. Perhaps they will have to do this in the future to be able to compete with cheap Android smartphones. Especially when cost of production keeps going down.
Today I want to talk about a very beautiful Android smartphone that comes with an iPhone X design. This is a low end Android phone. It’s called Elephone A4. It has the traffic light design on rear side but it’s a single lens.
Main specs: 5.85″ Display, 1440×720 pixel screen, Android 8.1 Oreo, MT6739 Chipset, Quad-core processor with Cortex-A53 4 cores clocked at 1.5GHz, IMG 8XE 1PPC GPU clocked at 600MHz, 16GB Internal storage, 3GB of RAM, 128GB TF card extend option, 4G Connectivity, Metal and Glass Build, 5MP Front camera, 8MP Back camera, Fingerprint sensor on side and 3000mAh battery!
I find it impressive how thin this Elephone A4 phone is with only 8.0mm thickness. The weight is pretty heavy with 189 grams. The USB connector is sadly the old micro USB 2.0 connector. Would love to have seen Type-C on board instead.
This phone comes with the iPhone X notch at the front side. And also with the all-screen design. The glass build will make it feel super premium. And then you get fast charging. You can also unlock the phone with your face. Dual SIM card is amazing if you travel a lot. The ability to have more than one SIM card inside at the same time.
You can also find a 3.5mm earphone port on Elephone A4. I suspect that the camera will be pretty basic. But I love the huge display. Bluetooth is the old 4.2 version. I really enjoy the Black edition of this phone. There is also a Gold variant available. I would also have liked to see 4GB instead of 3GB inside. Especially now when awesome games are being released on Android that need lots of RAM to be played properly. Would also be nice to have seen a Stylus built into the design.
Sony has a new high-end phone that is now being released. It is being called Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium. Let’s go deep into the specs and have a look at what you get!
Main specs: 5.8″ Display with 3840×2160 pixel resolution screen, Android 8.0 Oreo, Snapdragon 845 Chipset, Octa-core processor with 4×2.7GHz Kryo 385 Gold and 4×1.7GHz Kryo 385 Silver, Adreno 630 GPU, microSD card up to 400GB, 64GB Internal storage, 6GB of RAM, Primary 19MP + 12MP camera, Secondary 13MP camera with F2.0, USB 3.1 Connector with Type-C 1.0 and 3540mAh battery!
The first thing that I love with this phone is the cool design. The dual rear camera looks awesome on the back side! It’s closer to the center. Usually other companies doesn’t do that kind of design. Below camera you can find a rear fingerprint sensor for easy unlock. They still included a nice distance between the camera and fingerprint sensor so you won’t confuse the two as you will on Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S8.
Something that is a bit sad is that this phone still packs massive bezels on the front side which will be a negative for many people. The design is a bit cute because it comes with a rounded design that almost looks like an iPhone 3GS from 2009. That design is a bit nostalgic! But can also look a bit immature for 2018.
Another downside is that this phone is super thick with 11.9mm thickness! This is very fat for majority of people. And it doesn’t even pack 4500mAh battery. This is an IP65/IP68 water and dust resistant smartphone. Sadly it’s also missing a 3.5mm earphone jack. But it does pack latest Bluetooth 5.0.
The two colours you could get it in are either Chrome Black or Chrome Silver. I wish there was a Red, Green and Blue edition. Brown would also work pretty great. Some people think this phone looks like a panda. It seems like Sony is struggling when it comes to trying to make a very compact smartphone. The weight is massive 236 grams. I have no clue what is making it be so heavy!
Xiaomi is creating a brand new gaming Android smartphone. It’s called the Xiaomi Black Shark.
Main specs: 5.99” Display with 1080x2160p resolution screen, IPS LCD Type, Android 8.0 Oreo, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chipset, Octa-core processor with 4×2.8GHz Kryo 385 Gold and 4×1.8GHz Kryo 385 Silver, Adreno 630 GPU, Dual 12MP Camera, 20MP Secondary camera, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 Type-C on-board and Non-removable 4000mAh Battery!
The first thing I enjoy with this Xiaomi phone is the unique gaming design. On the front side it looks like a mix between a Samsung and an Apple phone. Because it has that nice rounded feel to it. But on the back it truly stands out. Reminds me about Racer’s gaming products. It has a Green and Gray theme over it.
It’s a pretty thick phone with 9.3mm thickness and 190 grams weight. The fingerprint sensor is mounted inside the front home button. This phone will come around a mid-range price level with starting price of 450 euros. Which is around the same price as Galaxy A5 2017 phone.
One sad part is that it doesn’t come with 3.5mm earphone port. So you have to use wireless earphones. The internal memory is 128GB with 8GB of RAM. Or 64GB with 6GB of RAM. There is no Card slot sadly. Something I think all phones should have 2018.
I enjoy the 4000mAh battery but would have preferred if they fixed 5000mAh at least. Since DOOGEE can give you that amount of juice in even cheaper devices I don’t understand why Xiaomi can’t.
The UI that Xiaomi is using is being called JOY UI. Which is just a custom launcher on top of regular Android. Hopefully they have done a good job with the integrated liquid cooling system to keep the CPU temperatures lower than on a Samsung Galaxy S9. Many Android phones suffers from becoming very hot while you are playing graphics heavy games.
Bakeey has a very nice 2 in 1 cable that can charge 2 kinds of Android phones. Both the new Type C connector smartphones and the older MicroUSB connector phones. Another thing that you can see is the current voltage by looking at a small display.
The cable is done by using a wired nylon braided material. It’s also a cable that looks very modern. On the small display with Blue text you can both see the current display and the voltage display. Kinks and tangles are being resisted because of the superior braided material.
A good thing to know is that this 2 in 1 cable will only work with Android smartphones and tablets. The iOS phones need another cable. This cable also supports fast charging. This cable is only available in a Black colour and the cable length is just 1 meter. I wish it was a bit longer perhaps 1.5m or 2m. Because too short cable can be a problem for many if they charge via a wall outlet.
The cable current is 2A and data sync speed is 480Mbps. The core wire is a tin-plated oxygen-free copper in material! I wish this cable came in a few more colours perhaps Red and Green and Blue edition. That would make it a bit more engaging and fun to buy. Just as we are starting to see more colours on phones coming out. You can both get a Red iPhone 8 and a Red Samsung Galaxy S8.
I would love to see a cable like this but for iPhones. So you could charge an iPhone 8 and iPhone 4 with the same cable. The older iPhone charge cables was much bigger. And they wasn’t reversible in charging capability. Do you love this 2 in 1 cable for Android phones or do you think something could be improved to make it even better?
