Ockel Sirius A Is A Mini Compact Windows PC!

Have you ever had a dream about carrying full Windows 10 with you in a compact size? There is now a small PC in the works for that! It’s called the Ockel Sirius A. It’s an ultra small PC with 6-inch touch screen and full Windows 10 experience!

Some of the specs include 8GB of RAM, 128GB flash storage, Intel Atom X7-Z8750, Windows 10 Home/Pro. It also has Bluetooth, WiFi AC, Two USB 3.0 ports, Micro SD slot, a LAN slot(as well as internal WiFi), USB Type C slot, an HDMI slot and even one DisplayPort slot! It also comes with a front facing camera.

Audio jack on right side. As well as volume up and down, as well as On/Off Button. It has a unique triangle design. On the back side it features an aluminium Unibody, Passive Cooling and a custom heatsink design. It’s around 320 grams in weight which is like two big phones in size. The battery is 3500 mAh. What’s interesting about this mini PC is how it features a fingerprint sensor on left side. That is similar to the tech used in Huawei products.

There will be two variants of this variant available. Sirius A and the Sirius A Pro. Both features a 1080P IPS Display. But there will be some other diffrerences. OS (Win 10 Home vs. Win 10 Pro), Memory (4GB vs. 8GB) and Storage (64GB vs. 128GB). I really wished that the Sirius A Pro had a larger 5000 mAh battery. That would be worthy of an upgrade from standard model.

Prices will be $699 for main model and $799 for Pro model. The biggest problem I see here is at that price range it might be worth it to just by a full laptop. Or a smartphone. Obviously the people going for this product will be very niche based.

My biggest worry is the battery life die after just 3 hours. Which means you probably need to keep it plugged in most of the time. But for an emergancy PC for rich people maybe a great device. I still want to try this device out! It will start to ship out in October.

Lenovo Launches The Yoga 920 Laptop For Creative Professionals!

These laptops from Lenovo are very beautiful and convertable machine.

This new Laptop will come with 13.9″ IPS display. It’s slighty lighter and thinner than previous Yoga 910 model. The webcam now is at the top of the display bezel. It comes in two display resolutions. 4K (3840×2160) and FHD (1920×1080).

This laptop is running on latest Intel core i 8000-series CPU with up to 4 cores. The Yoga 910 is using the i7-7000 series. HD Graphics is with Intel HD Graphics 620. Same as on 910! The new motherboard offers two Thunderbolt 3 ports! On left side the phone has support for 3.5mm TRRS Dolby Atmos enabled audio connector. Memory is up to 16GB with a hard drive of 1 TB PCIe SSD support.

You can also activate Microsoft’s voice assistant Cortana from 4 meters distance! Which probably will be a good voice assistant competitor to compete against Samsung’s Bixby, Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Google Now assistants!

Because this laptop is targeted at creative professionals the display is a touch screen. Lenovo offers an optionial Lenovo Active Pen 2 that you can use to draw or write on the screen. Kind of like Samsung is doing with their Note series on phones.

They also reduced the battery capacity from 79 Wh on 910 to 66 Wh on 920. But battery should stay the same! 10.8 hours on one charge on UHD resolution and up to 15.5 hours with FHD. The colours of the 920 will be Silver, Bronze and Copper. The starting price will be $1329.

Seems like Lenovo is doing the same thing as Samsung is doing with their latest Galaxy Note 8. Shrinking the battery! For some reason companies seems to love doing this in the latest tech.

I am currently enjoying my Acer Predator 17 x laptop it’s a VR ready laptop. Maybe I need to get a more slim touch based Windows laptop as well?

GIGABYTE Has A NEW Super Compact Graphics Card!

GIGABYTE has unveiled a new compact cute teddy bear graphics card in size. It’s the new GeForce GTX 1080 Mini ITX 8G. It’s 169mm long. It has a single 90mm fan configuration. Triple heat pipe cooling.

The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Mini was also a compact graphics card at 211mm in length. But this card is 42mm shorter than that! The overclock mode is not offering that much. The boost clock: Gaming Mode is 1733MHz and OC Mode is just 38MHz higher then that. The Base Clock while give you 1607MHz Gaming Mode and just 25MHz extra OC Mode.

The memory is 8GB GDDR5X, the power connector is an 8-pin connector. And the outputs are 1x HDMI, 3x DisplayPort and 1x DVI port . We currently don’t know what the price of this card will be or when it will be available!

NVIDIA introduced GTX 1080 series last year in May. GIGABYTE also has a larger GeForce GTX 1080 card. The G1 Gaming 8G. That card has support up to 8K display @60Hz. Compared to the 1080 Mini that only has 1 fan the G1 Gaming 8G has 3 fans. Has well has One-click Super overclocking, Smart Power LED indicators, Stylish Metal Back Plate and with Xtreme Engine you can customise a lot of things.

Hopefully this one 90mm fan on the 1080 Mini card will perform well and make the card quiet. But it probably can’t compare with the larger brother with 3 fans. Other mini cards that GIGABYTE has released has been GTX 1070 and GTX 1060 Mini.

Other companies are also making their customised GTX 1080 cards. Companies like MSI, EVGA, ASUS, Inno3D and PNY. But their cards are at this moment larger and more bulky. Maybe they will jump on the compact train as well. Seems like most tech is getting smaller these days.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact a NEW Sony Phone!

So Sony has unveiled some new phones.

One of them is a new compact phone. An Xperia XZ1 Compact. Which of course is suppose to replace Sony Xperia X Compact. I have used the X Compact a lot and really enjoyed it. But I used it as my main hotspot for my home network a bit too long. Don’t do that! It will fry the battery.

So what is new in this one compared to X Compact? First of all XZ1 Compact is IP68 certified. So dust and water proof over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes. It’s running on Snapdragon 835 instead of Snapdragon 650. It has 4GB of RAM instead of 3GB. The camera is 19MP with a secondary 8MP front facing. The front facing camera has a wide angle lens for great group selfies! The X Compact had a 23MP rear camera so not sure if this new 19MP will be any better. But it probably will.

This new phone will also come with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. The GPU is upgraded from Adreno 510 to Adreno 540. And it’s running on an Octa-core setup instead of the Hexa-core setup X compact has. The battery at 2700mAh and the 4.6 display size stays the same. As well as in design it doesn’t look like any major changes.

The XZ1 Compact will come with no visible antenna lines. And it will have a glass fiber reinforced plastic back. It’s bigger brother Xperia XZ1 will have more metal and antenna lines. Another random thing with XZ1 Compact is how the top and bottom of the phone is a bit more rounded so it can’t stand up on it’s own. The phone still has large bezels as earlier Sony phones are famous for.

The XZ1 Compact has a S-Force front surround stereo speaker. As well as Bluetooth 5.0 with support for LDAC and AptX-HD. Will it be worth to upgrade from X Compact? I don’t think so. It’s not that much new. But for newcomers looking for a Compact smaller phone this might be it.

You Thought You had a BIG microSD card? Check This Out!

Western Digital has unveiled a new massive microSD card! This card can store 400GB! 2 years ago we saw the shocking 200GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card. Now Western Digital through their SanDisk brand is doubling that capacity!

This is good news for people who love phones with microSD card option! But do remember that the phone also need to support a high memory card. And it will probably take at least a year before we see phones that will support this capacity. But maybe we will see it being supported in the Samsung Galaxy S9 or LG G7. This 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card also got some other amazing features.

The transfer speeds on this card is up to 100MB/s! It can also load apps faster because it meets the A1 App Performance Class specification! It also comes with a ten-year limited warranty. The price will be massive! $249.99. And will be available on SanDisk.com.

It is really crazy how fast things are progressing when it comes to storage in tiny cards! I remember when I bought my Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo Card. I think It was 4GB and it costed me 2007 around 50 euro! And now they can stuff in 100x more storage in a smaller card! But not for a cheaper price.. But of course the price will go down in the future. It’s amazing to see how fast certain technology is moving forward.

The only tech that I think is moving slow forward is the battery size tech. We want smaller batteries so we can have slimmer phones! We also want batteries that can fully charge a phone in 15 mins! I’m sure it will be here some day. Wireless charging is too slow 2017 to be an exciting feature. We also need to see stronger glass on phones. Especially glass backs!
