Google Release Android 8.1.0!

Google is finally releasing Android 8.1.0 Update over the Android Beta program. Earlier they just had released it as factory images for Google Pixel devices.

The devices that is getting this brand new 8.1.0 OTA update are: Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X!

Some updates stuff is a new hamburger emoji fix. People were upset that the cheese was at the bottom in previous Android 8.0 Nougat release. Google has finally fixed this serious issue. You also get a December security patch.

First in Android 8.1.0 you get a new easter egg on the about page that will finally display an Android Oreo cake! They have changed the search bar so it’s located at the bottom instead of at the top. At the top side you have a new widget that display some basic stuff like calendar and weather.

The app drawer in Android 8.1 is also a transparent version. The Quick Settings are also transparent. I don’t really like it that much I feel it looks better the way it looks on OnePlus 5T! Another cool thing is that with connected Bluetooth devices you can now see the battery status in percentage on the connected device.

Also if you change to a dark wallpaper then the background will change inside app folder and on quick settings page and in app drawer to a more darker look. To try to match the colours. Instead of just a search button now you will get a search bar inside the settings app. So easier to find stuff faster instead of always having to push a button.

There is a big focus on Blue inside of the theme on this new version of Android. Especially on buttons when you turn something on or off. They are starting to use more white colour in their theme instead of Black to prevent screen burn in.
