Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus is finally official and live! Earlier I been talking a lot about the rumored specs on these devices. The most impressive thing here is the low price start range. First you get the Redmi 5 for 120 dollars and the Redmi 5 Plus for low 150 dollars.
These two phones comes with the aspect ratio of 18:9. And the colours are: Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue. I wish they had a red edition.
Main specs on Redmi 5: 5.7″ Display, 1440×720 pixels, Snapdragon 450 Chipset, 2GB/3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB Internal Storage, 3300mAh Battery, 12MP Rear camera with F/2.2 + LED Flash, 5MP Front Facing camera, 7.7mm Thickness, 157 Grams weight and Fingerprint scanner.
My first worry with Redmi 5 is that the display is a bit too big for my taste. I would prefer if they kept it around 5-inch or 4.8-inch. The compact phones are highly valued. But I do enjoy how these two mobiles have more bezel-less design on the front.
Redmi 5 Plus specs: 5.99-inch Display, 2160×108 pixels, Snapdragon 625 Chipset, 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB Internal Storage, 4000mAh Battery, 12MP Rear camera + F/2.2 aperture, 8.05mm Thickness, 180 Grams weight and Fingerprint scanner.
The good with the Plus edition is the better chipset and way bigger battery. But it’s also a heavier phone, slightly larger and thicker. Up to you to decide what you prefer inside a phone!
The most expensive Redmi 5 will cost 135 dollars and most expensive Redmi 5 Plus will be 180 dollars. Which is nice to see how they still keep the price down on their low-end Android devices. And how you get rounded back design and sleek overall look. Xiaomi doesn’t seem to wanna raise their price as aggressive as Samsung and Apple is doing with their latest premium phones.
