Nokia Tells Us Nokia 8, 6, 5 and 3 Will Get Android 8.0 Oreo!

HMD Global that own’s the Nokia brand their CPO Juho Sarvikas has confirmed that all of the new Nokia phones will be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo. Even the low end Nokia 3 which cost under €200. It’s nice when companies let us know they care about updates. It feels like with Android it usually has been a pain to wait for new updates. Because most companies have their own custom skin that needs to get updated to the latest OS version.

We currently don’t know the exact timing when that will happen. I bought the Nokia 3 and I am impressed with how premium it feels at such a low price. Hopefully Nokia can bring out Android 8.0 Oreo update before Samsung. Usually Samsung has been very slow at updating their devices. Including their flagship smartphones.

It would also be nice if Android phone companies could release official firmware, flash tool and a pc suite every time they release something new. Because now it usually works in region updates. Which can be very slow. It would be nice because then you could release same version globally at the same time. Companies need to work towards this.

This is why we like Apple. Every time they release a new update they make sure you can install it on all supported devices at the same time. The more we step into the future with faster speeds the more people will demand faster updates. Faster updates, powerful batteries, stronger phones and customisable phones that’s what people want the most!

We still have problems in this area. First the last couple years phones have removed the option to replace the battery more and more. Also many phone companies are going back to use glass back on phones. Which is bad because it breaks easily. Even when they put protection on the back. Of course there is a big incentive for companies to make phones break a bit so they can earn a profit from people having to replace.
